Fall 2011 by sauvage featuring pink evening dresses

This is a rough idea of all the key pieces I need for fall. I like the matching polka dots because it feels like a fresh update on the florals on florals/print blocking from summer. Also, I need to say, Theysken's Theory has the best shoes. I want all of them. The white canvas wedges I have from last year's collection are amazing and so comfortable, they've become my go-to shoes for dressing up.

Also coveting: furry accessories (mink and gold cuff! I've also seen some rings like this), YSL Arty ring (STILL), a CDG big makeup bag to use as a clutch, and a solid statement necklace in a pretty contrasting color. This venomous green is lovely, or maybe a sky blue. In terms of clothing a classic trench is a mainstay for ever and ever and ever. One day I'll buy a Burberry. I'd love to wear that Hell's Angels tee with the leather pants and blazer or with the unbuttoned trench and some destroyed cut off shorts Also on the list: heavy woolen fabrics and soft pleats, leather pants, and a couple pussy bow blouses.

Alternatively, just give me everything from Theysken's Theory's fall collection

I had a wonderful day put together by Tampa Bay Fashion Week - beginning with a blogger conference where the panel talked about current issues in the blogosphere, monetization, social media, and tech specs. The lovely panel included Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly, Vahni from Grit and Glamour, Sasha from Everything Fabulous, Jodi from Live Fabu-less, and lots of other talented ladies.

From there we attended a fashion show hosted by Tim Gunn (make it work!) which presented some great fall style ideas. I fell in love with a few dresses from Liz Claiborne's fall line up: very retro silhouettes and beautiful pleats! From there, we moved on to our Blogger Lounge hosted by Neiman Marcus. I'll post more pictures soon!

I became rather indolent when it came to putting together outfits to go out. My boyfriend works at a club so dressing to go out 3/4 nights a week became a monotone black dress/red lipstick/heels formula.

It's difficult to go the other route and not feel like a totally unsexy schlub, but you can keep it fresh by either exposing legs in a mini skirt or clavicles in a strapless top. If you've read my blog before you know that my obsession with tennis skirts is multi-colored and far reaching... they're a good weight to avoid flipping up when dancing and look 'totes adorbz when you twirl in them.

I'm positively rabid with excitement over figuring out a method to curl my hair. I've always been one of those people that would use a curling iron only to have my hair fall flat within minutes. I used pincurls in apprx 2 inch sections after I got out of the shower and slept on 'em.. woke up this morning with perfect bouncy curls [squee!].

Quick guide to pin curls
tools: light hair spray, bobby pins

Basically you're taking a section of hair, rolling it up, and securing with a bobby pin. Repeat until all your hair is up. It doesn't matter if it's a little messy because you're just going to sleep on these anyways. You can adjust the curls by making the rolls tighter or looser. Hold in place with a light mist of hairspray when you take them out.

I've amassed quite the collection of black dresses over the years - I've got one for nearly every occasion. Lately I've been coveting sweeping knee length ones. This vintage dress from JNY is my favorite day time one. The tie at the waist allows for cinching it to a teeny-tiny circumference which looks perfect with the voluminous skirt underneath. Plus the stiff collar can be buttoned all the way up for a classic Wednesday Addams goth out or left open to a little sultry action. Worn with my favorite new giant Steve Madden Gretttas, vintage men's watch, and trusty MJ tote.

If humans were made in the image of god, we should approach life as one approaches a war. Looking out into the dawn of your life with no assurance but your own self worth.

You have such a precious limited time to battle the tides of monotony, though. If not now, when? Next year? When you have more money? A better job? It is necessary to pluck your head out of the proverbial shit-mud and run as fast as you fucking can. To stand with your head high is a fight; you have to claw your way through stone with your fingers scraping raw and bloody against the tepid, creeping, inertia of ineptitude. It's so easy to "let go" and let yourself be carried along like a petal in a river. Likewise, it is easy to seek substitutes for the things that scare you.

"It's easy to run to others. It's so hard to stand on one's own record. You can fake virtue for an audience. You can't fake it in your own eyes. Your ego is your strictest judge. They run from it.
